FOSTERING

GALS does not operate a shelter – we believe the health and rehabilitation of our animals is much more successful while our animals are in caring and loving homes. Since we do not have the overhead costs of a shelter facility, any funds donated go directly to the care of the animals.

We operate as a network of foster homes, and the amount of animals we can save directly depends on how many wonderful volunteer foster parents we have. The more foster homes we have, the more animals we can save!

If you have a welcoming home and have a passion for animals, please consider becoming a GALS foster home, it is truly a rewarding experience, and it doesn’t have to cost you a dime. We do however, require you to have a Facebook account as we utilize a group forum to keep everyone in touch and updated.

FAQ

Do I get to choose which animal I am fostering?

We try to match the foster animal to the home it will be going to. If you require a particular size, or if you need an animal who is good with children or other pets, we do our best to meet that criteria.

How much will it cost to foster?

GALS provides all of the veterinary costs, food and other necessary supplies to set you up for a rewarding experience!  You, the foster home, provide the love, training, transportation to and from vet appointments and arranging meetings with potential adopters for the animal in your care.

How long does it take for an animal to get adopted into his/her forever home?

We cannot make any promises regarding how long a particular animal will be in your home. On average, it takes between 7-120 days for them to find a permanent home.

Will I be involved in choosing the adopter?

We have found that foster homes are the best judge of what kind of home is the best fit for their foster animal’s particular needs. You will be involved in the screening process of potential adopters, in order to find the best home!
